Plane Ride
“Thank you so much for taking me on this trip.” I said after I gave Eric a kiss.
“You are the best boyfriend that I have ever had.” I said as I kissed him again.
“I know you said you always wanted to fly on a plane.” Eric said as he looked out the window.
“Yes I have. This is so neat. I can't wait for us to get in the air.
First a lady came over the loud speaker and gave us instructions. She told us to buckle our seat belts and this sort of things. Then the captain told us some stuff. I don't remember what all they said. They thank us for flying their airline and to enjoy the trip. I was so excited, that I couldn't focus on what they were talking about.
“How long do you think we will be in the air?” I asked as I got even more excited.
“About three hours. It should take us about three hours to go to California.” Eric said as he looked at his watch.
“Just think how long it would take us if we drove to California.” I said as I paused to think about it.
“Too long.” Eric chuckled.
We didn't really have any plans in California. The only plans that we had were to fly on the plane. I think Eric said he wanted to watch a basketball game if there were tickets still on sale. I hate basketball, but I said it was okay since I got to ride in a plane.
“Buckle your seat belt.” Eric said to me as the plane started to rumble.
I was so excited, my stomach was churning. I felt like I was going to throw up. I was excited, but at the same time a little scared. Scared because I didn't know what to expect.
“Do you fly often?” I asked.
“No, but I used to when my parents first got divorced.” Eric said as he watched me buckle my seat belt.
“I used to fly at least once per month. Then my dad moved back in with my mom. What a crazy time.” Eric said.
“It sounds like it.” I said.
“Yeah, well, they decided that they didn't want to be divorced after all.” Eric said as he looked around.
“That is good for them.” I said.
I felt the plan start to move. Every bone in my body was alert with excitement. Then, I seen that we were off the ground.
“I can't believe I am flying!” I said as I looked out the window.
As we went higher and higher, my ears started to hurt. Then, they started to pop.
“My ears are popping.” I said as I looked over at Eric.
“That will happen. Stay calm.” Eric said as he put his hand on my knee.
“I'm not afraid. I am excited!” I said as I watched out the window.
The higher we got, the smaller things looked out the window. I was shocked that I was actually looking at clouds. How neat is that? They looked like weird cotton balls as we flew near them.
“I feel like I can touch heaven up here.” I said to Eric.
“The world is such a beautiful place up here.” Eric said.
“I wonder if this is the same view God has of earth?” I asked.
“I don't know, but if I was God, this is how I would want to see the world.” Eric replied.
After about a half hour, the thrill kind of died down. I'm not saying that it wasn't very interesting, but I kind of got used to it. Not only that, but one of the people started being an asshole. He was drunk and and threw a pack of peanuts. I don't know what made him mad, but I think they told him he couldn't have anymore booze. I thought for a minute that someone was going to punch him in the face.
There was a little baby a few rows up from us. It was as cute as a baby could be. I was so surprised at how well behaved it was. It didn't cry even one time. The baby seemed like it enjoyed flying. Every now and then I would see it looking around. I tried to wave to it, but I don't think the baby noticed me. It was too focused on something else. Maybe there was a fly or something in the plane.
“Would you like to be in the mile high club?” Eric said.
I have never heard of such a thing. It sounded like something that referred to flying in planes, which was something that interested me.
“Are there any fees for the club?” I asked.
“There are some.” Eric said after he busted out laughing.
“How much does it cost?” I asked.
“You don't know what I am talking about?” Eric asked.
“No, I have no idea.” I said.
“The mile high club is a slang term for people who have had sex on a plane.” Eric said with a snicker.
“Oh, that sounds like fun.” I said.
